On April 12, 1965 the Houston Astros made history when they opened the new "Eighth Wonder of the World", the Houston Astrodome. The original owner Judge Roy Hofheinz led the charge to build the world first and only domed stadium. It has housed the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball and the Houston Oilers of the National Football league.
The Astros and the Oilers both had great seasons and it was the site of many great games and memories. but now the Oilers are gone and the Astros are moving into a new baseball stadium, Enron Field ! It will open up this season as the new home to the three time central division champs the Houston Astros.
CHECK OUT THE OLD SIGNS AND THE NEW SIGNS!
See how diffrent they look on the inside!!!!!!!
And now the Astros will be playing in Enron Field and start play later this week. I am planning on going to the game on Friday and I hope to enjoy the first major league baseball game outside.
Enron Field cost about $284 million and is on of the five new stadiums opening up in baseball. The Brewers, Tigers, Giants, Mets, and Astros will open new stadiums this year. Hopefully the Astros will have a good season and make it to the World Series!
Yesterday the Astros opened up the New ball park with a win over the defending World Champs, the New York Yankees 6-5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
